Why
do you go to church on Saturday?
The Biblical day of worship, both in the Old Testament and the New Testament, was the seventh day. This is the day God commanded as holy in the Fourth Commandment. It is the day God separated and rested on during Creation. There is nothing in the Bible that changes the day of worship from Saturday to Sunday. There is mention of the General Conference and the General Council in the web site. Are you affiliated with either of those? Not directly. The General Conference (located in Denver - see links) and the General Council (here in Meridian) are two of the different denominations of the Church of God Seventh Day. In Meridian, we are an independent church, although we participate in functions of both denominations. I came across your web site and saw your beliefs. How is your church different from the Seventh Day Adventist church? Thank you. There are a number of distinctions between us and the Seventh Day Adventist church, as well as similarities. Both the Church of God Seventh Day and the Seventh Day Adventists came out of the same movement in the 1800s. Throughout that time, one of the primary differences is that the Church of God Seventh Day does not follow, nor recognize, the teachings of Ellen White. There are also differences (and similarities) in points of doctrine, such as in the eating of meat. SDA is typically vegetarian, while we do not hold to that standard. Do you observe Sabbath from sunset Friday to sunset Saturday night? Thanks for your help. Yes we do. A Biblical day began at sunset (Genesis 1) and was from sunset to sunset (Leviticus 23:32).
